FRED COUPLES AND TREVOR IMMELMAN TO MAKE DEBUT IN 2024 PNC CHAMPIONSHIP

Fred Couples and Trevor Immelman are set to make their debuts at the 2024 PNC Championship, taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, Grande Lakes, Dec. 19-22, 2024.

Couples, the 1992 Masters champion and former World No. 1, will team up with his 16-year-old stepson, Hunter Hannemann.

“Hunter and I are really excited to play in the PNC Championship this December,” said Couples, 15-time PGA Tour winner. “It’s a special event we’ve followed for a long time, and to now have the chance to be part of it together is incredible. I can’t wait to share the experience with him on the course and make some great memories.”

Meanwhile, 11-time worldwide winner Trevor Immelman will partner with his 18-year-old son Jacob Immelman.

“The PNC Championship has always been on our radar, and we were absolutely thrilled when we got the invite It’s a unique opportunity to compete together in such a special event,” said Immelman, 2008 Masters winner.  “Jacob was by my side when I captained the International Team at the Presidents Cup, and he’s seen my work as a commentator on CBS but having him experience being inside the ropes with me will be something truly special. We’re both excited for the challenge ahead and the fun that comes with it.”

Other players committed to this year’s championship include past champions David Duval and Stewart Cink, who will play with their sons, Brady and Connor. In a recent interview on the No Laying Up podcast, Duval called the PNC Championship “easily the greatest week in the golfing world, and it’s not even close.” 1996 Open champion Tom Lehman will compete alongside his 21-year-old son Sean, while1997 Open Champion Justin Leonard will team up with 17-year-old son, Luke, for the third time. Matt Kuchar also returns to the event with his youngest son, 15-year-old Carson.

Steve Stricker, who debuted last year with his youngest daughter Izzi, now 18 years old, and finished 10th, will return for their second appearance. Golfing legend Gary Player will make his 8th appearance, this time partnering with his grandson Alexander Hall. Long-standing players Sir Nick Faldo, who has competed in 11 editions, and Nick Price, with 10 editions, will also return to team up with their sons, Matthew and Greg.

Lee Trevino, who has competed in every edition of the event, and Mark O’Meara, who recently announced his retirement from professional golf, will once again team up with their sons, Daniel and Shaun. Together, they have accumulated an impressive 43 appearances in the PNC Championship.

Already confirmed for this year are defending champions Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, John Daly and his son John Daly II, Vijay Singh and his son Qass, Annika Sorenstam with her 13-year-old son Will, and Nelly Korda with her father Petr.

This is PNC Bank’s 13th year as the tournament’s title sponsor. The event was renamed the PNC Championship in 2020, reflecting the world class talent and special bonds that characterize this inclusive family tournament.

The tournament, which will be broadcast live across NBC, GOLF Channel and Peacock, attracts major champions whose victories this year span 1959 to the present day. Last year, the PNC Championship gathered a field of golfing greats that had won 62 major titles and included 11 former world No.1s. With only 20 teams competing, players past and present are once again showing an unprecedented interest in campaigning for a spot in the star-studded line-up for 2024.

The PNC Championship has continued to evolve and develop since the inaugural tournament in 1995, when 10 major winners gathered with their sons. The tournament now features 20 major champions and their relatives competing in a two-day, 36-hole scramble for the Willie Park Trophy. To qualify for the PNC Championship, players must have won a major championship or The Players Championship. Their partner must not hold any playing status on a professional Tour.
